DEWITT, MI — The DeWitt YMCA will end operations after 15 years in the Schavey Road Plaza. The YMCA of Metropolitan Lansing announced the closing in a press release and email to members.
In the press release, the YMCA confirmed that the DeWitt location was experiencing financial hardships that were only exacerbated by the pandemic. Officials say declining memberships influenced the decision to close the location.
“The Y would like to thank DeWitt for its dedicated staff, members, quality programming and annual support. Together, we have nurtured the potential of children, enhanced health and provided vital services to the community” said Casey Thompson, YMCA president and CEO.
The YMCA says memberships can be refunded or transferred to neighboring YMCA locations.
