EAST LANSING, MI — When the FIFA World Cup returns to North America in 2026, Michigan State University – a school known worldwide for its turf grass management program – is going to have a say in what kind of playing turf goes into more than a dozen stadiums hosting World Cup matches.
The Fédération Internationale De Football Association (FIFA), is going to build a turfgrass testing facility at MSU in East Lansing south of campus on Farm Lane, according to school’s Board of Trustees, which was expected to vote to approve the plan at its Friday morning meeting.
The texting facility will remain available for MSU researchers to continue turf research once the FIFA project concludes, according to MSU.
