ROCHESTER, MI — A woman who fled to Thailand after allegedly being involved in a hit and run crash that killed a Michigan State University student will return to the United States to face charges.
Tubtim Howson, 57, allegedly struck Benjamin Kable shortly before dawn on Jan. 1, and according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department. The accident happened in Rochester.
Kable, 22, was either walking or standing in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle, according to police. Kable, who was from Shelby Township, Mich., was home on Christmas break visiting family at the time of the accident.
Police say Howson, a Thai-American, allegedly flew to Thailand on a one-way ticket on Jan. 3, but had allegedly aknowledged to a friend prior to that she had struck someone on New Year’s Day morning.
