LANSING, MI — The winter storm hitting the state is wreaking havoc. Overnight ice and freezing rain has led to widespread power outages. As of 5:00 a.m. this morning there were more than 635-thousand Michiganders without power according to power-outage-dot-us.
The majority of those affected are in the lower part of the state, according to Consumers Energy and DTE Power . The Jackson and Battle Creek areas were especially hard hit.
Michiganders are being urged to stay off the roads as the state continues to deal with dangerous driving conditions. Road crews have been working since yesterday to clear ice on the roads. Side roads and streets are especially poor this morning.
