EAST LANSING, MI — Auburn University plays football in the Southeastern Conference and is in need of a quarterback for its football team. Apparently they think they found their next starter.
Former Michigan State University starting QB Payton Thorne announced Friday he is headed to Auburn, Alabama to play for the Tigers. The flagship school is the second biggest school in the state only behind the University of Alabama.
Thorne had entered the NCAA transfer portal on Sunday just before the filing deadline to do so. It was expected the redshirt junior already had a destination picked up. Auburn open its season on Sept. 2 against UMass at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
