LANSING, MI — The City Rescue Mission of Lansing has announced a significant leadership transition with its longtime leader stepping aside to pursue new opportunities.
Executive Director Mark Criss has stepped down from his role after 23 years of service to the Mission, including 22 years as Executive Director.
The organization’s Board of Directors has unanimously appointed Randy Barton, former Senior Director of Operations, as the Mission’s next Executive Director. Barton’s extensive experience, proven leadership, and long-standing connection to the Mission position him well to lead the organization into the future.
“After 23 years of rescue ministry work, I feel led to shift gears and work full time with my church, The Commons Church,” Criss said. “I will remain on staff at the City Rescue Mission of Lansing as a part-time Senior Director of Finance and help Randy Barton transition from Senior Director of Operations to our new Executive Director. I am excited at this new chapter ahead, for me and for the Mission, and look forward to serving in this new capacity.”
According to a press release, under Criss’s leadership, the City Rescue Mission of Lansing experienced significant growth in its capacity to provide food, shelter, and hope to vulnerable and underserved men, women, and children throughout the Greater Lansing community.
