EAST LANSING, MI — Zeke the Wonderdog, the frisbee catching Golden Retriever known for performing during Spartan football games, has passed. That’s according to the official announcement on a Facebook page associated with MSU’s biggest fan.
Here is his handler’s announcement:
“It is with heavy hearts that we share that Buckshot – known to the Michigan State community as Zeke the Wonderdog for the last decade – passed away peacefully this weekend surrounded by his family.
Since 2016, he served as Zeke IV at Michigan State University, bringing joy to campus and upholding one of the university’s most cherished traditions.
The Michigan State community is mourning the loss of a frisbee-catching star who energized countless athletic, community, and student events. More than a performer, Zeke IV was a symbol of Spartan spirit and a goodwill ambassador whose soaring catches and enthusiastic presence became a staple of game days and special occasions across campus.
Though widely recognized as a campus icon, Zeke IV was first a beloved member of the Foley family. To Jim and Terri Foley, he was a loyal companion whose playful spirit filled their home. He was happiest with a frisbee in the air – whether practicing in the yard or racing across the turf. He genuinely loved meeting fans.
“Thank God for the memories,” Jim shared. “He left a legacy of Spartan love.”
