LANSING, MI — Musicians from around the Midwest will gather in Lansing Sept. 28-30, to try to break the record for the world’s longest continuous jam session, according to the event’s organizers. The World’s Longest Jam effort in Lansing, to be held at UrbanBeat in Old Town Lansing, has a goal of at least 60 hours.
The current record is 57 hours, set in Granada, Spain, in August 2023, according to a press release. Turns out the “record” is informal, based on internet searching, organizers say. Guiness, the traditional arbiter of world records, has no jam record.
More than 100 musicians are expected to participate. The organizing committee is seeking musicians to volunteer to play throughout the jam session; sign up at www.longestjam.com. Event organizaers are also soliticiting volunteers to help with the event. To volunteer call 517-371-4600.
